Summary
The International Centre for Leadership Results is now accepting applications for its landmark Sustainability Leadership Fellows program. This innovative program will significantly enhance your leadership effectiveness and organizational mission, enabling you to implement meaningful and measurable organizational change towards sustainability.

Sustainability is an imperative for every organization, the most important change imperative of the 21st century. The Sustainability Leadership Fellows program allows you to transform your personal and organizational skills, strategies, and initiatives as a Sustainability leader by joining trailblazers in the global, cross-sector Sustainability movement. As a Fellow, you will remain in your position for the duration of the year-long program, allowing you to implement your learning in direct organizational action. Aspects of Program methodology include:
  • Expert and peer coaching
  • Self-awareness and self-mastery tools, including reading, reflection and journaling
  • Group conferences and small group sessions
  • Guest Leaders/Expert Speakers' Dialogue
  • Measurable Results
  • Personal, organizational and global network-building
  • Information & Communications Technology as leadership tools
Individual, team, and organizational Fellowships are available beginning with the Winter 2004-5 Cycle (see the full schedule for details). Apply online, or learn more by contacting Centre Executive Director Steve Cochran or call 717-486-4072.

This important new program is offered in collaboration with Gettysburg College and in association with, and support of, the United States Partnership for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). A portion of Fellowship tuition will support the mission of the US Partnership.

The Sustainability Mandate
:: Today, sustainability imperatives and realities are at the forefront of strategic planning in every sector, discipline and organization. In service to those who are leading this revolution, the International Centre for Leadership Results is proud to announce its inaugural Sustainability Leadership Fellows program. The program:
  • Engages participants in meaningful action in the global Sustainability movement;
  • Enables positive change and measurable results for Sustainability.
  • Enhances personal effectiveness and organizational mission through Sustainability leadership.
:: Sustainability Fellows embark on a year-long journey of learning, experience and growth. Fellows build personal and holistic leadership strategy, capacity, tools, networks, and action plans for Sustainability imperatives and opportunities. Each quarter, a new cohort of Sustainability Fellows joins the program, as the full community shares the journey through four seasonally-organized thematic imperatives focused on different aspects of Sustainability learning and action.

Tools and Results
:: Sustainability Leadership Fellows brings together pioneers from government, industry, the sciences, academia and education, the social sector, faith communities and others to collaborate as peers, and to work with and learn from the most effective, accomplished and emerging voices in Sustainability, and from each other. Fellows explore organizational development and learning, capacity building, and complexity and collaboration theories and practice and apply these tools to their personal and organizational mission.

:: Quarterly, focused three-day sessions are held at Gettysburg College (with one day of the three meeting with Sustainability leaders in Washington DC). Additional, interim contact days are arranged as self-selected, leadership benchmarks, site visits, conference participation, partnership development, and leadership coaching. Meeting on a bi-monthly basis, with an integrated quarterly focus, individuals are empowered to build cross-sector networks and communities of action while achieving measurable, and sustainable results. A total of twenty four contact days occur during the 365-day, quarterly-focused, personally-designed program. Please refer to the full schedule for details.

:: Formal sessions employ effective, emerging large-and-small group experiential and reflective learning methodologies, technologies, and tools (and very few 'talking heads'). Between the sessions, Fellows utilize leading-edge information and communication technologies and methodologies as leadership tools to maximize individual action and results. Fellows' resources and adjunct faculty include nationally and internationally renowned cross-sector authorities, thinkers, and most-importantly "do-ers" in Sustainability.

:: Fellows have the opportunity to explore Sustainability imperatives, expand their understanding, and anchor their learning to personal and organizational mission. Each Fellow will build an individual Sustainability strategy and plan of action for themselves and their organization. Because they remain in their organizational positions during the program, Fellows are able to leverage the results of their real-world learning to implement and measure sustainability solutions that benefit their organizations and the whole.

Centers of Access & Influence
:: By participating in the program, Fellows not only learn and apply their learning in action, they also become part of a remarkable community of Sustainability leaders, which continues to serve as a personal and organizational resource for the future. Moreover, the community of Fellows that emerges from the program benefits additionally from being supported by the International Centre for Leadership Results and its partners.

:: The Centre's partners include the United States Partnership for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, the national organization supporting the United Nations' Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). The Centre is a founding member of the US Partnership, and Executive Director Steve Cochran serves as its interim steward. As such, the Centre is uniquely qualified to integrate Fellows and their organizations' Sustainability programs and activities into the Partnership's work to leverage the UN Decade in the United States. Other Centre partners include the Sustainability Leadership Institute and the Social Computing Alliance.
